Fancy Schmancy

So yesterday I took my new Canon 5D Mark II out for a practice run and let me tell you something...(granted I only took a few photos, because my 3 year old is not very cooperative, and I had a baby strapped to me in a sling)...I learned that a fancy camera doesn't make you a better photographer. Ohhhhh no. I learned that I've got a lot of well...learning. I mean, don't get me wrong, this camera is...**AWESOME**...as Jim Carrey put it..."I like it..I like it a looot."

Err...after I clean up, 'cause my 7 weeker just spit up all over me...

My SIL told me where this ice cream shop was months back when I was pregnant. Talk about yummy!! Here's Claire (my little one) and my nephew Joseph

Two places I take Claire to play, and also get out of the house, eliminate messes at home, and to eat are Chick fil a and McDonald's. Personally, I go to Chick fil a more often because I like their playground better (it's much more simple and Claire is less likely to get hurt). However, I was taking a look at their nutritional facts online and WOW, what a difference between the two.

Here's a list of what I usually choose to eat at either one of them and then a list of what I probably SHOULD be eating instead.

McDonald's:

Premium Grilled Chicken Sandwich - 420 calories

Medium French Fries - 380

Medium Coke - 210

Total: 1010 calories

Chick fil a:

Grilled Chicken Sandwich - 260 calories

Medium French Fries - 370

Medium Coke - 170

Total: 800 calories

That's a total 210 calorie difference! Yet the alarming 800 calories is enough to make me rethink my menu choice at Chick fil a and choose a salad and water instead. You'd be surprised, however, the amount of calories in a McDonald's salad alone!

McDonald's:

Grilled Chicken Salad - 320 calories

Dressing - 170

Total: 490 calories

Chick fil a:

Chargrilled Chicken Salad - 170 calories

Dressing - 15

Total: 185 calories

That's a whopping 305 calorie difference in the SALADS! Sorry, McD's. The sacrifice to my hips and cholesterol are just not worth the bigger playground (with tile underneath) which, in my mind, is more of a hazard anyway.

In conclusion, go toward the cows with the sign "Eat more chickin."

More of an artistic twist to my photography and one of the coolest (and by cool, I mean cold!) shoots I've ever done was with a couple who agreed to go shooting in the rain! I was quite ghetto with my trash bag and rubber band around my camera, but I had to try out my new lens hood somehow! We were out there for 3 hours and soaking wet halfway through. Needless to say, we were shivering by the time we were almost done. It was totally worth it though. I had lots of fun! Here are some of my favorites. I've thought about starting a blog before, but never really thought anyone would be interested in what I have to say or show. I think maybe this would be a good way to expose my photography though and give people an outlook on my world through a lens! I hope you'll enjoy seeing my images and from time to time I'd like to share with you how I edit certain pictures.

For starters, I'll share my latest photoshoot. It's a special shoot to me because it's the first time I had picked up my camera in 4 months. I found out I was pregnant in November, and shortly after that the sickness started. I ended up in the hospital five different times for dehydration and malnutrition being there for a total of 3 weeks. So let's say these photos are my comeback from a long and hard journey and certainly help feed the baby fever I've been experiencing. I can't wait for my little guy to get here so I can take pictures of him!
